Are you a D2C brand stuck at inconsistent follower growth and peanut-shaped engagement? Or are you a D2C Marketer frustratedly screaming, "I am trying every tactic out there, so why the heck my client's social media is not growing?"
D2C or Direct-To-Customer is a business model where revenue is generated directly from customers using a direct supply chain. Think of D2C as any brand that you can't buy from a retail or wholesale store but through a website or an online store. According to Times Of India, D2C expects to see a growth market of $100 Billion opportunities by 2025.
D2C is growing so should be D2C marketing. Many industry leaders suggest that D2C is a saturated industry. Many jumps in for the sake of popularity but not many dives it deeply.
The secret lies in hearing close to the customers.
What problem they are facing?
How do they want to address the issue?
How can you help them?
They will tell you everything, you should know how to listen.
As "The Customer Whisperer" and CEO of Customer Cramp, Katelyn Bourgoin tweets recently
So here are 5 chances to hear closely what your customer has to say so you can market your e-commerce business better:
#1 - Close Community of your Customers
Make your customers feel valued and important by building a close community.
Here's how you can do it for different platforms.
Instagram - Add responsive customers to your "Close Friends" to share early updates.
WhatsApp - Create a Close Community group of your regular customers. Share early discounts, updates, and combos to keep them interested in your product. (Obviously, ask consent before adding them into the group)
Facebook - Who uses that anymore?
But if you do, make a private group of all your repeated customers. Share early bird discounts, coming soon sale updates etc.
#2 - Reciprocation is the key
Every customer's soft spot is "FREE." You give them a free sample, a free shoutout, free advice. They will more likely to reciprocate your FREE gesture by buying from you. They might also leave a lovely testimonial on their way out.
Your customers could be your advocates as well as buyers if you apply this principle generously.

#3 - Power Move is in details
Hey, Parneet.
Didn't you like chocolates? Yeah, we saw you clicked the Ad but didn't buy it. Here is a 50% discount coupon code. Use it and make the inner chocoholic in you happy.
Personalizing your emails, texts, communication will hook your prospects into buying from you. But it is not only limited to adding their first name in the email. Dig more, create a buyer persona, target specified ads to rule their heart.
#4 - Boring Content takes away virality
Getting viral content is not a piece of cake.
You need to be relatable, insightful, creative, and catchy to hook the eyes. A brand cannot survive only on Quotes or "How-To's."
Jazz it up with the inclusion of Memes, Reels, Pain points, Reminders, Lives, and much more.
P.S. Hire a Content Marketer. He/She'll know what I am talking about
#5 - Hit the G-spot with an excellent after-sale-services
If you think "placed an order" is the end of your biz goal, believe me, "picture abhi baaki hai mere dost."
Ask customer's feedback on social media. Reshare their tags and mentions on the story.
Technicalities:
Back up your delivery services
Use a traceable tracking system
Adopt a hassle-free return system
Stay in touch by pushing notifications and emails.
Customers are predictable if you analyse their patterns
If you want to grow your D2C brand, don't just look for an agency to post creative content. Rather use all the above points to outshine your industry and build trust. If you need anyone to help out with the above demonstrations, I'd love to help you.
